Yahoo News Claim: UAE Unfreezes Part of Iran’s Frozen Assets

Iran's Frozen Assets

PNN – Yahoo News has claimed that the UAE has released billions of dollars of Iran’s frozen assets.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Yahoo News—citing various media sources—has claimed that the United Arab Emirates has released billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets, including shipments of gold.

Yahoo News reported that oil prices fell on Thursday following reports that the UAE had released Iranian assets frozen in Emirati banks.

According to reports by the media outlet “The Hormuz Letter” and other sources on the social media platform X, the released assets included 1.5 tons of gold.

Media reports indicate that these assets were transported on August 11 and 12 from Abu Dhabi to Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport and Karaj’s Payam Airport aboard a Boeing 737-7KK (registration A6-RJA) belonging to the UAE-based company “Royal Jet.”

According to Yahoo News, the aircraft stopped in Iran for less than an hour during each flight before returning.

Some sources have described this move as the third such transfer. Previous claims, cited in a June Reuters report, indicated that the UAE had agreed to the release of $10 billion to $20 billion, with more than $3 billion of that amount having been delivered amidst the U.S.-Iran conflict.

However, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied these reports at the time, stating: No frozen Iranian assets have been released, transferred, or facilitated through the UAE.

US officials also dismissed claims regarding side agreements or the release of Iranian funds.

As of August 13, recent reports have not yet been confirmed by Iran, the UAE, or the United States.
