PNN – Yitzhak Brik, a retired general in the Israeli military, has warned that a renewed attack on Iran could lead to a regional war and inflict heavy losses on Israel.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al-Mayadeen, Yitzhak Brik wrote in an article for the Hebrew-language newspaper Maariv that Donald Trump’s second presidential term has unfolded in a manner contrary to his promises to end crises and achieve global peace; wars persist, and economic crises have intensified.
He interpreted the results of the U.S. midterm elections—specifically the Republicans’ loss of control over Congress—as a sign of public dissatisfaction with Trump’s policies and a decline in confidence regarding his ability to resolve crises.
Brick also stated that Trump faces fateful decisions regarding a potential war with Iran, amid deep divisions within the U.S. administration over whether to continue military strikes or pursue economic pressure and a negotiated agreement.
Divisions within the U.S. Administration Regarding War
According to Brick, Trump’s sense of humiliation over how Iran has treated him could drive the U.S. President to make a decision motivated by a desire for revenge. He warned that such a move could have dangerous consequences for the region—especially if Israel were to participate in the attacks.
Heavy Losses for Israel
This retired general acknowledged that a renewed air strike against Iran could lead to a regional war, with Israel at its center. According to him, the potential losses for Israel would be “enormous and unbearable,” and some of the damage from previous conflicts remains irreparable.
Brick also dismissed the reliance on air strikes to defeat Iran as unrealistic, stating that such attacks alone cannot halt its nuclear program.
Ultimately, Brick characterized the repetition of air strikes as a futile approach, warning that rather than resolving the crisis, such an action could drag Israel into a regional war with a heavy toll.
