PNN – A Zionist media outlet, expressing frustration over the activities of the Iranian diplomatic delegation on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, contrasted these efforts with the isolation faced by Netanyahu and the Zionist regime’s delegation in New York.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the Hebrew-language newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth highlighted the stark difference between the diplomatic activities of Tehran and Tel Aviv during their respective presence at the UN General Assembly sessions.
The report notes that the brief visit to New York by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—and his address to this week’s UN General Assembly session—will be remembered primarily for the walkout of numerous delegation members as he began speaking and for the limited number of diplomatic meetings he held during his stay; this stands in contrast to Iran’s diplomatic agenda at the General Assembly, which was far more dynamic.
The newspaper adds that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who represented his country at the UN meetings, remains in New York and is expected to stay in the city for the coming days as well.
According to the report, Araghchi met with representatives from at least 24 countries during his visit to New York—including the foreign ministers of major European powers—whereas Netanyahu met with only nine leaders on the sidelines of the General Assembly, including the President of Argentina, the Prime Minister of Greece, and Janez Janša, the new Prime Minister of Slovenia.
Netanyahu faces a dire diplomatic situation.
The Zionist newspaper adds that Araghchi met with Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, as well as his counterparts from the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. He also met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi—shortly after Iran had targeted American positions within Jordan. Meanwhile, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and spoke with representatives of Western media outlets.
Yedioth believes that the most significant diplomatic event for Iran during the UN General Assembly session was the meeting between Araghchi and Steve Witkoff, the envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump. According to the newspaper, Araghchi put forward a new proposal in the negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
