According to Al Jazeera, 99 American doctors who volunteered in Gaza asked President Joe Biden and his Vice President Kamala Harris to immediately end military support for the Zionist regime and to stop arming the country that deliberately kills children en masse. .
In their joint letter to Biden and Harris, the doctors explained that they are a group of people of different religions and races.
They said that while providing voluntary medical services in Gaza, they witnessed the deaths of babies who died due to attacks, Israeli barriers, epidemics and crimes against human rights.
In the letter, they noted that the number of people who have died in Gaza since October 7, 2023 is much higher than reported, and is likely to be more than 118,908, which is 5.4% of Gaza’s population. is
American doctors added: “Our government must take immediate measures to prevent a disaster worse than what has happened to the people of Gaza and Israel.”
They emphasized the necessity of establishing a ceasefire by ending military support to the Zionist regime and imposing an international arms embargo on this regime.
In the letter, which the volunteer doctors posted online, they expressed their willingness to share with Biden and Harris the graphic evidence of malnutrition that threatens the lives of Gazan children.
These doctors wrote in their letter: “We saw mothers suffering from malnutrition and feeding their underweight children food prepared from contaminated water. “We can never forget that the world abandoned these innocent women and children.”
They declared it “shocking” that the Israeli regime repeatedly orders evacuations of malnourished Gazans, sending them to areas without even running water or sanitation.
Mark Perlmeter, an orthopedic surgeon and one of the volunteer doctors who signed the letter, said: “Gaza was the first place in my life where I held a child’s brain in my hands.”
Perlmeter stated that there is no way that young children were accidentally or unintentionally targeted by the Israeli military during the year in Gaza.
The doctors continued to write the letter: We ask you to listen to the cries and moans that our conscience does not allow us to forget. We cannot understand why you continue to arm (Israel) that deliberately kills these children en masse.
These doctors, who have been working in the biggest hospitals and clinics in Gaza for months, said that they have not seen any Palestinian armed activity in the hospitals or other health centers that the Zionist regime’s attacks have targeted.
