American people rally in defense of imprisoned Palestinian doctor.
The Palestine Information Center reported that hundreds of human rights activists and supporters of Palestine in San Francisco gathered in front of a hospital in the city, demanding the release of Dr. Hossam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza, and an end to the occupation of Palestine.
Last week, Amnesty International expressed its deep concern about the situation of Hossam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, who was arrested by Israeli forces a few days ago.
The organization called on the Israeli authorities to release Dr. Abu Safia, emphasizing that Dr. Abu Safia was the voice of the damaged health sector in the Gaza Strip and that he worked in inhumane conditions even after the assassination of his son.
Some news sources also announced that doctors around the world have held protests in support of Dr. Hossam Abu Safia.
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights also stated in a report that there are reports of torture and ill-treatment at Kamal Adwan Hospital, stressing that there is no information about the fate of Dr. Hossam Abu Safia, the head of the hospital. Israeli attacks have caused terrible damage to Kamal Adwan Hospital, and patients and wounded people are left without care.
The UN agency reported 136 attacks by the Zionist regime on approximately 27 hospitals and 12 other medical facilities in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the invasion of the strip on October 7, 2023.
