Axios: America has called for the Gaza war to enter a “milder phase”.

PNN – A media outlet close to Israeli and American sources claims that Washington has called for the Gaza war to enter a “milder phase”.

According to Pakistan News Network, a media outlet close to Israeli and American sources reported that White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan called for the end of the “intense phase of the war” in Gaza in the next few weeks in his meeting with Israel’s war cabinet today.

Axios reported on Thursday that Jake Sullivan told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel’s war in Gaza should enter a less intense phase within the next few weeks.

Earlier, the office of Yoav Galant, Israel’s Minister of War, announced in a statement that he stated in a conversation with Sullivan that the war against Hamas will last for more than a few months.

According to CNN, Gallant said on Thursday: “Hamas is a terrorist organization that has strengthened itself over the past decade to fight Israel. “They have started to build underground and above ground organizations and it is not easy to destroy them.”

Gallant continued, “It will take time to do, and it will take more than several months, but we will win and we will destroy them.”

The Axios website, citing two American and Israeli officials, reported that Sullivan said in today’s meeting with Netanyahu’s war cabinet that it is necessary to “transition to a milder phase of the war within the next few weeks, not months.”

In a rare criticism of Israel, US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that Netanyahu’s cabinet should be changed. Biden also said that international support for Israel’s military operations in Gaza is declining.

Despite this, Biden’s comments did not mean practical action to end the war that has killed thousands of civilians in Gaza.

On Tuesday, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. America was one of the few countries that voted against this resolution. The US government previously vetoed another resolution in the Security Council that had a similar goal.

According to the Axios database, the number of civilian casualties in Gaza is higher than in any other war zone conflict in the 21st century. The worsening of the human situation in this area has added to the high number of civilian casualties and has doubled the suffering of the people in this area.

This media claimed that Biden administration officials think that entering a milder phase of the war will reduce civilian casualties and allow more humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.

A senior US official said: “Jake Sullivan made it clear that the war needed to go from a heavy operational phase to a lighter one within weeks, not months.” “This is not a deadline and we understand that the operation must continue and will continue but with less intensity.”

The Ministry of Health of Gaza announced on Thursday that the number of martyrs since the beginning of the Israeli attacks in Gaza has reached 18,787. 50 thousand 897 people were injured as a result of these attacks.

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden admitted that Israel is carrying out “blind bombing” in Gaza. Despite this, his government has not taken any practical action to end the war in Gaza, apart from rhetoric and media operations.

The Wall Street Journal revealed in a report 13 days ago that despite pretending to be concerned about civilian casualties in Gaza, the US government has provided Israel with at least 100 mortar bombs.

In that report, this newspaper stated that the US has increased the shipment of weapons to Israel in an opaque and secret manner since October 7 and has provided 15,000 bombs and artillery shells to this regime.

The Wall Street Journal wrote that the sending of these bombs comes while the United States, on the one hand, invites its main ally in the region to avoid increasing civilian casualties, but on the other hand, to provide Tel Aviv with many of the ammunition that those operations use.

Axios claims that Jake Sullivan pressed Netanyahu and members of Israel’s war cabinet to provide a timetable for when the war would enter a milder phase.

An Israeli official said there was no pressure from Sullivan on Israel to end the war, but he expressed concern about Palestinian displacement and civilian casualties.

The Israeli regime has declared the goal of its operations in Gaza to destroy Hamas, but many Western and European personalities have stated in the past days that Hamas is an ideology and it is not possible to destroy it.

For example, Josep Burrell, the European Union’s foreign policy official, recently said at a meeting in Barcelona that Hamas is an ideology and it cannot be destroyed.

On October 7th, the Islamic resistance movement of Palestine, Hamas, in response to more than seven decades of occupation of Palestine and nearly two decades of siege of Gaza and imprisonment and torture of thousands of Palestinians, started the operation known as “Al-Aqsa Storm”.

This operation was one of the deadliest attacks against this regime. Hamas fighters penetrated into the occupied territories at several points of the border fences, attacked the villages and besides killing a large number of Israelis, captured a number of them.

In response to this operation, the Zionist regime launched heavy attacks against Gaza and put this area under complete siege. Despite this, as analysts say, the al-Aqsa storm operation has imposed a major security-political defeat on Israel.
