PNN – Referring to the recent terrorist attack by a supporter of the ISIS terrorist group in the city of New Orleans, which killed 14 people and injured dozens, the Guardian newspaper wrote that the concern about the threat of ISIS has increased in the United States.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, the Guardian said during this report: Although the general public believes that ISIS has suddenly appeared among the terrorist organizations active in America, however, senior officials and analysts have been warning for months that an ISIS terrorist attack in America is imminent.
Clara Broekaert, a researcher at the Sufan Center, which tracks the activities of ISIS in cyberspace, said: The attack was not unexpected and there were warning signs. In recent months, we’ve seen a flood of calls for violence over the New Year holidays, with frequent discussions of simple tactics ranging from stabbings to vehicle attacks.

Brokart continued: Considering this issue, the occurrence of such an attack was not surprising at all.
Brokart said: In 2024 alone, at least five ISIS-inspired and directed plots inside the US were thwarted. He added that the success of the New Orleans attack, which ISIS has not officially claimed responsibility for, has boosted the group’s activities in cyberspace “a lot”.
According to the Guardian, before the mid-November presidential elections, ISIS activities increased in America. First, a Pakistani national living in Canada was arrested before plotting against a New York Jewish center. Then in October, the FBI arrested an Afghan man in Oklahoma on charges of planning an election-day gunfight. Around the same time, a Maryland man was arrested on suspicion of supporting ISIS and allegedly trying to buy a Kalashnikov assault rifle.
American law enforcement and intelligence officials now face the difficult and time-consuming task of dealing with copycats of the recent terrorist movement or potential supporters of ISIS who may attempt to repeat this operation.
Brokart said: American law enforcement and intelligence agencies have proven to be very effective in neutralizing ISIS threats inside and outside the country. However, despite these impressive efforts, the truth is that ISIS only needs to succeed once.
