PNN – The former Israeli Prime Minister, describing Netanyahu as an animal caught in a trap, warned: Netanyahu will do anything to escape judicial and political crises.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Al-Shorouk, former Prime Minister Ehud Barak warned: If Benjamin Netanyahu feels defeated in the Knesset elections next October; he may disrupt the results or stop the process by declaring a state of emergency.

Describing Netanyahu’s current situation as an animal caught in a trap, Barak emphasized: He is ready to impose any cost on Israel to escape his judicial and political crises.

Ehud Barak said: If Netanyahu becomes certain of his defeat a few days before the elections, he may open a new front against Iran, Gaza or the West Bank, and then declare a state of emergency to postpone the elections for 6 months.

He said: I don’t think it’s unlikely that if Netanyahu is not sure of his victory five days before the election, news will suddenly spread about the existence of a “time bomb” in Iran; an issue that could lead to the start of a third round of attacks against Iran, a fifth round of war against Hamas, or the flaring up of a third intifada in the West Bank.

He added: The widespread release of fake videos on election night to deceive public opinion and tarnish the image of political rivals, as well as inciting incidents similar to the attack by Trump supporters on the US Capitol building, will be another possible tactic by Netanyahu. His extremist supporters may attack the vote counting site in Jerusalem, overturn the ballot boxes, and question the credibility of the counting process, paving the way for the annulment of the results.

Referring to Netanyahu’s crisis of legitimacy internationally, Barak stated: Many observers believe that Netanyahu has cunningly prevented a peace agreement with Lebanon and deliberately failed the prisoner exchange deals in Gaza in order to prolong the war for his political survival.

He supported individuals such as Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, Avigdor Lieberman, Gadi Eisenkot and Yair Golan, considering them worthy alternatives to Netanyahu’s current team.

According to recent polls by the Lazarus Institute, if elections are held, Netanyahu’s rival coalitions and the new “Ma’a” party have a very high chance of defeating the Likud party.

It is worth noting that in the Israeli regime, the prime minister is not directly elected by the settlers, but rather the position goes to someone who can form a government that has the trust of at least 61 members of the Knesset.
