Fear of riots after the elections; The French Interior Minister announced the deployment of 30,000 policemen

PNN РIn the wake of growing concerns about the possibility of riots after the second round of parliamentary elections, French Interior Minister G̩rald Darmanin announced that around 30,000 police forces would be stationed in different parts of the country.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoted by Independent, the Minister of Interior of France, in an interview with France 2 TV channel, mentioned the attacks that were carried out on some candidates of the second round of the French parliamentary elections in recent days and said: Four people have been arrested for attacking Prisca Thévenot, the spokesperson of French President Emmanuel Macron’s government, and his accompanying team, who were installing propaganda posters.

Criticizing that the extremist supporters of some parties have resorted to violence during the campaigns of the second round of the French parliamentary elections and attacked the candidates of rival parties, he emphasized: On Sunday evening when the election results will be announced, we will be very careful about security.

Darmanin went on to say that 30,000 French police forces will be stationed throughout the country after the second round of the French parliamentary elections: Five thousand of these forces will be stationed in Paris and its suburbs.

The Minister of Interior of France further added: The deployment of these 30,000 police forces will ensure that after the election results are announced, those violent supporters of extreme right or radical left parties will not be able to use the current situation to create chaos.

In this regard, French Prime Minister Gabriel Atal also wrote in a message on his user account on X social media (former Twitter): Let’s not give in to the atmosphere of violence and hatred that is being formed and turn it back.

This poll was published after 218 candidates for the French parliament from democratic and leftist parties withdrew from the second round of the French parliamentary elections in favor of other candidates from their allied parties who had won more votes in the first round of the election.

With the aim of using all imaginable strategies to defeat the candidates of the far-right party led by Le Pen, these representatives took action, so that by removing themselves from the election cycle, they may cause their votes to be assigned to the candidates of their allied parties.

According to the results of the first round of the French parliamentary elections, it was found that 34.2 percent of the voters supported Le Pen and her party (National Assembly Party), the coalition of left parties “New Popular Front” of France after Le Pen’s party, with 29.1 percent. Ara was ranked second, and Macron’s moderate coalition, consisting of Renaissance, Madum, and Afaqha parties, could only get 21.5 percent of the votes and was content with third place.

The first phase of the French parliamentary elections was held and the second phase of the French parliamentary elections is scheduled to be held.
