PNN – The French Foreign Ministry announced in a statement the expulsion of two employees of the Iranian embassy in Paris.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the French Foreign Ministry issued an anti-Iran statement announcing that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot had decided to declare two employees of the Iranian embassy in Paris personae non gratae and expel them.
Without mentioning the illegal conduct—which violated diplomatic norms—of two French embassy employees in Tehran, the French Foreign Ministry claimed that this decision was made following an attack by Iranian security forces on two French embassy employees in Iran on July 19.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Tanhaei, Head of the Second Western Europe Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had announced that, according to reports from relevant authorities, two French nationals attended a meeting on the evening of Sunday, July 19, with several individuals wanted on security-related charges; the two were briefly questioned by security agents. Numerous documents indicating anti-security activities were discovered at the location and are currently being examined by the relevant authorities. Refuting the French Foreign Minister’s false claim that the two individuals had been beaten, Tanhaei noted that as soon as law enforcement officers learned of the pair’s affiliation with the French Embassy in Tehran, they transferred them to the diplomatic police headquarters; following coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and contact with the French ambassador, the individuals were handed over to the embassy.
The Head of the Second Western Europe Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that the unlawful conduct of two French embassy employees violated the laws of the host country and the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, asserted: Instead of resorting to deflection, the French Foreign Minister must be held accountable for the conduct of the two embassy employees in Tehran, which contravened diplomatic decorum.
Following this unlawful action by the two employees, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that, in light of activities violating international law—specifically the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations—carried out by two officials at the French Embassy in Tehran, and noting that despite weeks having passed since the exposure of their illicit conduct, their government has taken no steps to rectify the behavior or guarantee non-repetition, the Ministry has designated these two officials personae non gratae; consequently, their entry into Iran is prohibited.
