PNN – Saudi Aramco’s oil facilities in Jizan have been targeted in a new attack, just one month after a separate strike caused a temporary disruption to part of the company’s refinery production in the region.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al-Mayadeen, a new attack has been carried out against Saudi Aramco’s oil facilities in Jizan, in southern Saudi Arabia.
The Financial Times reported that Saudi Aramco’s oil facilities in Jizan have been targeted in a new attack, just one month after a separate strike caused a temporary disruption to part of the company’s refinery production in the region.
Citing two informed sources, the newspaper reported that Aramco’s oil infrastructure was targeted on Monday; assessments to determine the extent of the damage are underway, and the scale of this new attack—in terms of volume—is said to be similar to the strike that occurred last month.
The source noted that Jizan is the Saudi industrial city closest to the Yemeni border and has previously been targeted by Houthi attacks on numerous occasions. The area houses an oil refinery with a production capacity of 400,000 barrels per day—considered one of the country’s largest—as well as various related facilities and energy infrastructure.
The Financial Times reported that Yemen’s Ansarullah has not yet claimed responsibility for any new attack on Saudi Arabia. Previously, Aramco CEO Amin Nasser stated last month that earlier attacks had caused disruptions to the company’s oil production but had no fundamental impact on its operations or financial position. Aramco has not yet responded to the newspaper’s request for information regarding the new attack.
