The Prosecutor General’s Office in Libya has issued an order to arrest 16 officials after the disaster that killed thousands of people.

The Prosecutor General of Libya, today (Monday), issued an arrest warrant for 16 officials in the framework of the investigation into the collapse of the Wadi Darna and Abu Mansour dams after the flood in this country.

According to the report of the Libyan newspaper “Al-Shaheh”, the former head of the Water Organization and his successor, the current and former director of the Libyan Dams Organization, the head of the implementation department of dam projects and their restoration, the head of dams in the eastern region, the head of the Derne water resources office and the head of the Derne regional council. (Northeastern Libya) are among the detained people.

The investigation committee of the Libyan Prosecutor’s Office announced that the officials in the water organization did not provide the necessary evidence to refute the accusations of mismanagement in administrative and financial duties, playing a role in increasing flood casualties, and failing to use appropriate tools to prevent disasters and causing financial losses to the country. .

About two weeks ago, the country of Libya witnessed a terrible storm named “Daniel” that hit its eastern cities, especially Derne. Following this storm and following the collapse of two dams in this country, a severe flood occurred in the eastern regions of Libya and completely submerged several areas.

Following this flood, thousands of people lost their lives and heavy damage was done to the country’s infrastructure.
