PNN – The Pakistani newspaper Dawn wrote in a report on the recent tensions between Iran and the United States that the complexity of the current issues demonstrates the need to continue the diplomatic process and avoid expecting a quick agreement.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Referring to the 2015 nuclear deal, which took nearly 2 years, the Pakistani publication added: It is unrealistic to expect Iran and the United States to quickly reach an agreement that could end the recent war—especially when complex issues such as paying compensation to Iran and resuming maritime traffic in the Persian Gulf are at stake.
Dawn emphasized that, at a time when the global economy is suffering from the consequences of the war, especially the naval blockade, and global public opinion is calling for a quick resolution to the crisis, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Islamabad should not be considered fruitless. The diplomatic process is still ongoing and efforts are underway to maintain it.
The newspaper emphasized: Washington should not assume that Tehran will surrender; Iran has resisted pressure, sanctions, and hostile actions by the United States and Israel for decades and has a high capacity for resilience.
Therefore, it would be better for US President Donald Trump to take a practical step towards reducing tensions by lifting the blockade and paving the way for the actual lifting of sanctions. Washington should also prevent the escalation of conflicts by containing Israel and adhering to the commitment of non-aggression.
Dawn concluded by writing to American officials: For the peace process to succeed, it is necessary to avoid escalating verbal tensions, especially in cyberspace and press conferences, as ill-considered statements can undermine diplomatic efforts. The United States must avoid such mistakes.
