PNN – Condemning the Zionist regime’s airstrike on an airport in Idlib, Syria, the Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that the lack of accountability and deterrence encourages Israel to continue its aggression.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing Al Jazeera; the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced: We condemn the Israeli airstrike on the Abu al-Duhur military airport in Syria.

The ministry’s statement added: Israel’s continued violation of the sovereignty of regional states reveals a dangerous approach of imposing a fait accompli through the use of force.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the lack of accountability and deterrence emboldens Israel to continue its aggression, threatens regional security and stability, and drives the situation toward an escalation of tensions.

The Ministry’s statement noted that if Israel seeks to impose a new reality, the international community must treat it as an entity that places itself above the law.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: We reiterate Qatar’s steadfast position in support of Syria, and we declare our solidarity with the country’s government and our support for its sovereignty.

Meanwhile, a Syrian military source, speaking to Al-Ikhbariya Syria, stated that the attack on Abu al-Duhur Airport was carried out by Israeli fighter jets, noting that the jets conducted eight strikes on the military airfield’s runway in the eastern countryside of Idlib early Tuesday morning, August 18.

The source added that the attack caused only damage to the airport’s infrastructure and resulted in no casualties.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry also condemned, in the strongest terms, the Zionist regime’s airstrikes on the Abu al-Duhur military airport in Idlib province, describing the action as an unjustifiable aggression, a blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a dangerous escalation that jeopardizes regional security and stability.

The Foreign Ministry’s statement noted that the continuation of these acts of aggression—persisting from December 8, 2024, to the present, even as the Syrian government has exercised restraint and striven to consolidate stability and prevent the crisis from escalating—exposes the Israeli occupiers’ intentions to undermine these efforts and drag the region into further turmoil.

The statement declares that the Syrian Foreign Ministry holds the occupying Israeli regime fully responsible for this escalation and calls upon the international community and the Security Council to unequivocally condemn this aggression and adopt a firm stance against the repeated violations of Syria’s sovereignty.

The statement concludes by emphasizing that Syria will continue to defend its national rights and interests using all legitimate means guaranteed by international law and norms.
