The Israeli Defense Minister announced the conquest of the heights of Jabal al-Sheikh, Syria.
According to Al Jazeera, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced the regime’s occupation of the Syrian Jabal al-Sheikh Heights after 51 years of retreat from the region, saying that this event occurred in a historic and influential situation.
He pointed out that he had gone to the Golan Heights with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and observed the heights of Jabal al-Sheikh from there, and noted that he had ordered the Israeli army to prepare to remain in these heights throughout the winter.
Katz called the dominance of these heights significant in terms of security during the events in Syria.
Although the armed terrorist groups describe themselves as jihadist groups, they do not show any reaction to the Israeli regime’s ground and air aggression against Syria. Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of the Tahrir al-Sham terrorist group, has previously given the green light to these attacks and announced that Syria is not ready for another war.
The terrorist group Tahrir al-Sham, along with several other armed groups, has been preparing a massive attack against Syrian government positions in various provinces of the country since November 27th and, with its rapid advance, succeeded in capturing Damascus on December 8th. Having taken control of the governing institutions in Syria, these groups introduced Mohammed al-Bashir as the head of the interim government, which will remain in office until the end of March 2025. The Israeli army began its ground invasion and missile attacks on Syrian territory on the morning of December 8th.
