PNN – Latinos voters in the U.S., who helped Donald Trump return to the White House in the 2024 election, have now shifted toward the Democrats amidst growing dissatisfaction with economic conditions and his administration’s immigration policies.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; a new poll by NBC News and Telemundo reveals that Latino voters—who played a pivotal role in Trump’s 2024 victory—are now deeply dissatisfied with his performance, and Democrats have taken a 24-point lead among this demographic regarding control of Congress.
According to this poll, the approval rating for Trump’s performance among Latino voters stands at just 27 percent, with two-thirds believing his administration’s policies on immigrant deportations have gone too far. Furthermore, 78 percent are dissatisfied with his handling of the cost of living, 74 percent with the economy, 68 percent with foreign policy, and 69 percent with immigration.
This shift in sentiment could spell trouble for Republicans in the November 2026 midterm elections, particularly given that Latino voters accounted for approximately one-tenth of the total vote in recent U.S. midterm elections.
When asked which party they prefer to control Congress, 59 percent of Latinos chose the Democrats and 35 percent the Republicans; the Democrats thus hold a 24-point lead. This margin is double the lead they held among this group at the same point in 2024.
One of the most significant factors shifting voter sentiment is the economic situation. Sixty-five percent of Latinos believe that Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions, while only 23 percent believe these policies have helped the economy. Additionally, 63 percent say their family income has failed to keep pace with rising living costs.
Inflation and the cost of living are the primary concerns for this group; 33 percent identify it as the country’s most important issue, while 52 percent rank it among their top two priorities. Among those who view the cost of living as the most critical issue, Democrats lead Republicans by a 22-point margin—a stark contrast to 2024, when Republicans held a four-point lead within this same group.
