Trump: Gaza ceasefire agreement was my job, not Biden’s.
According to Reuters, US President-elect Donald Trump, who will officially take office on January 20, claimed that the administration of current President Joe Biden did nothing to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and that this agreement was reached with pressure from Trump and his team.
He said in a television interview: “If we had not intervened in this agreement, this agreement would never have been reached. We changed the course, we accelerated the process. Frankly, it was a lot better that this agreement was reached before I entered the White House.”
Trump sharply criticized Joe Biden for trying to take credit for the agreement, calling him “despicable” and adding: “He did nothing. If I had not done this, if we had not intervened, the hostages would never have been released.”
Hours ago, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially announced that the regime had accepted a ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and a prisoner exchange.
According to Netanyahu’s office, the Israeli security cabinet will meet on Friday to approve and ratify the agreement.
It is said that the Israeli prime minister had agreed to the agreement on Thursday, but postponed its official announcement, accusing Hamas and Palestinian militants of insisting on petty issues; a charge that Hamas denied.
However, Israeli analysts believe that the real problem and the delay in the Israeli prime minister’s announcement of his agreement to the ceasefire are due to internal divisions among the far-right members of his government who oppose the agreement.
Itamar Ben-Guer, the right-wing Minister of Internal Security of the Israeli regime, strongly attacked the agreement with Hamas and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself.
Attacking Netanyahu personally, Ben-Gwer noted: “The current agreement with Hamas is very ineffective and will lead to the release of hundreds of terrorist murderers. This deal will destroy all of Israel’s gains in the war and destroy other Zionist prisoners.”
