US Official Claims: We Have Reached Out to Iran for Negotiations!

Negotiations

PNN – Ahead of the U.S. congressional midterm elections, an official from the State Department claimed—in remarks clearly intended for political effect—that the United States has extended a hand to Iran for negotiations, while simultaneously signaling readiness to pursue a different course of action!

According to the report of Pakistan News Network citing the Associated Press, Donald Blome—a U.S. State Department official—employed the country’s habitual “carrot and stick” approach toward independent nations. In a statement made on the eve of the congressional midterm elections, he claimed that the U.S. has reached out to Iran for talks, while warning that it remains prepared to take a different path!

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs made these claims at the “Manama Dialogue”—a security forum held in Bahrain.

This American official—who seems to have forgotten his country’s repeated breaches of commitments toward Iran, ranging from Trump’s unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to the unilateral scrapping of the Islamabad understanding (by his own president)—claimed: A hand has been extended to Iran for negotiations, and the relevant channels remain open and active. Nevertheless, we are prepared to pursue a different path. We cannot, under any circumstances, allow Iran to hold this region and the global economy hostage!
