US Treasury Secretary: Washington will impose new and tough sanctions against Russia next week.
According to Reuters, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced that Washington will impose “tough new sanctions” next week against third countries that help strengthen Russia’s military and its actions in Ukraine.
He said that the new sanctions “target those who help the Kremlin’s war machine, including intermediaries in third countries who provide important resources to the Russian military.”
The US Treasury Secretary did not provide further information on the new sanctions against Russia.
The action, taken in partnership with other countries, will target Russia’s military-industrial complex and companies in third countries that facilitate Russia’s access to goods it wants, Adeyemo said, as Washington seeks to hold Russia to account over the war and the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
