White House officials react to Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah’s speech.
A White House official on Friday responded to a speech by the secretary general of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, saying Washington is not looking to escalate the conflict.
A spokesman for the National Security Council of the White House said after the speech of Seyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah, that Washington does not want to expand the current conflict in Gaza to Lebanon.
The White House official said in an interview with VOA state media: “We are not entering into a war of words. “The United States does not want to escalate or expand the conflicts that Hamas brought to Israel.”
He added: “We and our partners have said clearly: Hezbollah and other actors – both state and non-state actors – should not try to take advantage of the ongoing conflicts.”
He added: “The United States does not want this conflict to spread to Lebanon.” “Hezbollah and other actors should not seek to exploit the conflict because its potential damage to Lebanon and its people will be unimaginable and unavoidable.”
The Secretary-General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah Movement, this evening (Friday), while requesting the cessation of oil exports to America and the Zionist regime, emphasized that the deployment of American ships in the Mediterranean Sea does not scare the resistance and that America is the main cause of crimes in Gaza.
The Secretary General of Hezbollah added: “If American generals come to this regime and America opens the doors of its weapons warehouses to the Israeli army and Israel asks for 10 billion dollars from the first day of the war, is this regime strong and able to stand on its feet?! These results should be described and explained so that everyone knows that the sacrifices in Gaza and the West Bank and anywhere else are worthwhile. These obtained results paved the way for a new historical stage of the fate of the countries of the region. There was no other option; Therefore, this decision was right, forward-looking, and desirable.”
The Secretary General of Hezbollah pointed out: “Among the most important mistakes that the Israelis made and continue to make are setting big goals that they cannot achieve. In 2006, their goal was to destroy the Lebanese resistance and return two prisoners without negotiation or exchange. After 33 days, they did not reach their goals and the same issue is repeated in Gaza today. What Israel is doing is killing Gazans, mostly children, women, and civilians. There is no respect and Israel destroys the neighborhoods.”
Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah warned America: “Your ships in the Mediterranean Sea do not scare us and will never scare us.” I am telling you that we have prepared equipment for your ships with which you are threatening us. Those who defeated you in the early eighties are still alive and of course, their children and grandchildren are with them. Those who want to prevent the American war must stop the aggression against Gaza. If a war breaks out in the region, neither your ships nor air war will be of any use to you. In the event of a regional war, your interests and soldiers will be victims, and you will be the big loser of this war.
