PNN – Following widespread Haredi protests against the military service law, Lieberman accused Netanyahu of dragging Israel into a civil war for political survival, a deep gap that has been exacerbated by a severe shortage of personnel in the army.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; citing Palestinian Sama news agency, Lieberman emphasized that Netanyahu’s cabinet is dragging Israel towards civil war in order to stay in power for a few more days.
These statements came after ultra-Orthodox Zionist settlers held protest demonstrations on Wednesday night, blocking the main streets of Tel Aviv and some parts of the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to this report, Haredi settlers held a large demonstration on the main roads of the occupied Palestinian territories in protest against the law on military service in the Israeli army, and by slowing down about a thousand cars, they disrupted the movement of tens of thousands of vehicles on the main roads of the occupied territories.
In this regard, Knesset (Israeli parliament) member Isaac Goldknov said after the Haredi demonstration: We will overthrow Israel and never be slaves. We will take over the prisons and turn them into religious schools.
According to him, this social movement was carried out with the guidance and approval of Jewish rabbis in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Some Israeli media outlets reported clashes between demonstrators and Israeli police and the arrest of some protesters.
The rally was held in protest against the legal prosecution of religious students and the arrest of a number of religious school students.
Haredi Jews, who constitute a significant portion of the Zionist population, believe, based on their religious teachings, that studying in the “Yesu” religious schools takes precedence over military service, and for this reason, they have always resisted the army’s repeated attempts to recruit them.
Over the past few months, the issue of revoking military service exemptions for Haredis has become one of the biggest internal crises in the Israeli regime. This political and social divide is intensifying at a time when the Israeli army is facing a severe shortage of manpower due to the eroding war on various fronts, and military authorities are insisting on arresting and pressuring members of Jewish religious schools to force them into compulsory service.
Chanting “Death to military service,” protesters have emphasized that they will continue their civil disobedience and block the cities’ vital arteries until the detention of young people ceases and the conscription law is abolished.
