Hebrew media: Agreement with Lebanon is good but lacks implementation capacity

Agreement

PNN – A Hebrew-language media outlet admitted that the Israeli-Lebanese agreement is a milestone, but it is not enforceable.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network: The Hebrew-language Walla analysis site wrote in a report: After four days of intensive negotiations at the US State Department in Washington, Israel, (the dependent and pro-Western state) Lebanon and the United States signed an agreement that is supposed to eventually lead to a peace agreement (reconciliation and normalization) and security between the two sides.

It continues: In theory, the agreement is one of the most ambitious diplomatic steps on the northern borders (of occupied Palestine) in recent years: a new US mechanism, test zones from which the Israeli army would gradually withdraw, the Lebanese army would take over, and Hezbollah would be disarmed.

However, minutes after the signing, a wave of shock swept through the region. Hezbollah representative Hassan Fadlallah announced that the party will not allow the Lebanese authorities to implement this agreement unless, in his words, the Lebanese government decides to ignite a civil war.

Israel is acutely aware of this disconnect. A senior political official stated after the signing that Israel would remain in the security zone.

The official also justified the continued occupation by saying: Until Hezbollah and other organizations in Lebanon are disarmed and no longer a threat to Israel.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio tried to sound more optimistic, saying: The first step may be the hardest, but it’s also the most important.

But Vallejo admitted: Here’s the paradox. The United States, Israel, and Lebanon signed a document that was based entirely on the assumption that the Lebanese government would be able to do something it has never been able to do, which is disarm Hezbollah.

The Hebrew-language analytical site News One also quoted Yair Lapid, the leader of the opposition in the Israeli Knesset (parliament), as describing the agreement as contradictory and contradictory to the US agreement with Iran, stressing that each of the two sides negates the other.

According to this Israeli politician, while the agreement signed with Lebanon attempts to destroy and disarm Hezbollah’s infrastructure, the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran provides Tehran with vast economic openings, which in turn will lead to the strengthening of the “axis of resistance.”

In an analytical report, the Haaretz newspaper stated that while the heads of Zionist settlements in the north (of occupied Palestine) welcomed the signing of this agreement, they all expressed skepticism regarding its effectiveness and feasibility.

In this regard, the head of the Kfar Vradim settlement council told the outlet: Past experience has taught us that disarming Hezbollah is impossible; this has never been achieved, neither in the distant past nor in the recent past.

In another part of his speech, he admitted: Experience has proven that Hezbollah cannot be defeated by military force and Israel is forced to take action through political channels. Along with hope, we must also be realistic. If we do not see real change on the ground, this agreement will not be successful, because it is difficult to rule out the possibility of another conflict in the north (occupied Palestine) in the future, while the possibility of drowning in the Lebanese quagmire is also very real for Israel.
