PNN – The head of the Israeli army’s manpower department warned of its dire conditions and announced a major problem for war veterans.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Israel’s Channel 12 television quoted Major General Dadu Bar Khalifa as saying that the Israeli army has suffered from a severe shortage of manpower and is now heavily dependent on reservists, a problem that will be multiplied if military service is reduced.
In a conversation with a reporter from Israel’s Channel 12 television via a social media platform, he admitted: There is a concern that the size of the Israeli army is small compared to the dangers and threats that exist.
The Channel 12 reporter asked the senior officer: Israel has been at war for about 3 years, and in that time the military reserves have spent hundreds of days in the war. They have completely abandoned their families, jobs, and lives. What do you have to say to them?
He replied: We are deeply indebted to the reservists and believe they are the trump card of the Israeli army.
– Do we think the Israeli army was able to provide an appropriate response to their actions?
Zionist General: The current war is unprecedented in Israeli history, and every shekel spent on it has been necessary and important. However, I must admit that other issues weigh heavily on our shoulders and will become even heavier in the future. One of these issues is the maintenance and service of (a large number of) disabled soldiers, both physically and mentally, which is something we are working hard to achieve.
– Why not look at the glass half empty? How many reservists do you think are thinking of defying the call-up instructions?
Zionist General: Our situation is indeed full of challenges, one of which is the issue of families.
– But I want you to give me a number, what percentage are thinking like that?
Zionist General: (Again, he refused to disclose this figure) There are certainly people who think so. I don’t have a specific figure, but I can say that during the war, the call-up rate for reserve forces increased by 35 percent.
– According to information you have previously provided to the media, the Israeli army is facing a shortage of at least 12,000 troops, including about 7,000 field and combat troops, and this gap is expected to grow even larger.
Zionist General: Yes, the information they announced indicates a situation that is getting worse day by day, and if the service period is reduced according to the existing regulations, these problems will increase even more.
