Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed; The ceasefire and the new round of negotiations in Doha’

According to al-Arabi al-Jadid, the ceasefire talks were held in Doha today, Wednesday, with the participation of CIA chief William Burns and Mossad chief David Bernia.

Yesterday, an Egyptian source said that the officials of Egypt, America, Qatar, and the Zionist regime will meet in Doha on Wednesday to discuss the agreement on the exchange of prisoners and the ceasefire in Gaza.

This well-informed source also announced that the ceasefire negotiations are continuing in Cairo with the efforts of the Egyptian Security Council to bring the negotiating parties closer to each other. He stated that talks regarding the ceasefire will resume Wednesday in Doha and Thursday in Cairo.

The American delegation led by William Burns arrived in Cairo yesterday (Tuesday) to start a new round of negotiations and dialogue with the Egyptian security delegation. At the same time as this trip, the head of Shabak, Ronin Bar, arrived in Cairo on the same day and left Cairo after negotiations with the American delegation and Egyptian officials regarding the controversial issues related to the prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

In this connection, Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, made calls to the mediators and warned them about the disastrous consequences of the developments in Gaza and Rafah and pointed out that these developments may bring the negotiation process back to zero.

In this regard, Jihad Taha, the official spokesman of the Hamas movement, emphasized in a statement yesterday: “Hamas will not deviate from its principles during the ceasefire negotiations and will not hesitate to provide any service to the nation and the resistance.”

He further said: “Negotiations about these issues are being held and we hope that the Zionist side will be serious in these negotiations and stick to their commitments.”

It should be noted that informed sources had previously announced that the issue of the release of Palestinian prisoners over 15 years of captivity and the withdrawal of the Zionist military from the Philadelphia axis in the south of the Gaza Strip is one of the remaining issues between the two sides.
