Israel’s defeat in the ground war in southern Lebanon.

Israel’s defeat in the ground war in southern Lebanon.

It was on the first day of October 2024 that the Zionist regime launched a ground attack on southern Lebanon with four divisions from four axes. At first, the Israeli leaders claimed that the type of attack would be limited and would only target Hezbollah’s infrastructure; But with time, it became apparent that the words and actions of the Zionist regime authorities conflicted, like what happened in Gaza. With the beginning of the conflicts on the ground, the officials of different countries and people present at the United Nations expressed their concern about the recent events.

Rima Jamous Amsis, director of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, said about recent events: “Israel’s new evacuation order for 20 villages in southern Lebanon means that more than a quarter of the country is currently under an evacuation order.” In addition to international concerns, the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah greatly affects the interests of the countries in the region. In recent days, Qatari, French, Turkish, Jordanian, and Egyptian authorities have repeatedly warned about the consequences of expanding the scope of the Gaza war to Lebanese territory.

Land attack in war is one of the oldest and most important types of military battle in the history of empires and states. Usually, being on the same border makes it possible for the two warring parties to start a ground battle, and on the other hand, the dimensions and scope of its influence make it more difficult for the warring parties to make decisions at each stage of this type of war. For this reason, the beginning of a ground attack by the occupying regime in southern Lebanon, considering the history of the war between the two sides and its complex consequences, is considered an irrational action at this point.

The uneven terrain, the distinct topography of a range, the presence of valleys, etc. are the potential characteristics of the Lebanese land, which reduce the possibility of completing the enemy’s operations to its lowest percentage. Also, during these years, Hezbollah forces have been able to turn the existing geographical conditions into real tools against external threats by building tunnels inside the hills. The combination of the above factors causes the Zionist regime to send commando units to the border villages before sending its classic forces to the battlefield so that it can have a better chance to deal with the Lebanese resistance and protect its forces against possible threats.

The latest developments in the field in southern Lebanon

Currently, the Israeli army has attacked southern Lebanon with 4 divisions. The Zionists attacked Mis Jbeil, Kafarkala, and Al-Adisa from the southern areas and attacked the areas of Bint Jbeil and Marun al-Ras. The key point is that on many of these fronts, the Zionist army has been forced to retreat and their prediction of capturing the southern regions of Lebanon has come to a standstill. In terms of the number of casualties, the self-censorship system of the Zionist regime prevents providing real statistics, but according to unofficial statistics, their casualties are estimated at around 500 people. Only in the last 24 hours, 23 Zionist soldiers were injured in Lebanon Square.

The increase in the number of Israeli casualties in the ground conflict compared to the low number of casualties and their losses in missile attacks, makes possible the withdrawal of the Zionist army. Previously, during the 33-day war in 2006, the Lebanese resistance forces caused similar casualties to Israel and provided the ground for Tel Aviv to accept a ceasefire.

Hezbollah’s strengths against the enemy

To effectively counter the enemy’s ground attack, Hezbollah has achieved many successes, mainly through rocket attacks, armored missiles, and detonating all kinds of bombs in the direction of the Zionist army. Hizbollah has surprised the enemy many times by using guerilla operations and inflicting heavy blows on its body.

The Israelis are pursuing several basic goals with their ground attacks. First, by entering Lebanon, they seek to spy on the weapons and facilities of the Hezbollah resistance force. Second, they think that by increasing their forces on the northern front, they will increase the possibility of hitting the other side.
