Saudi Arabia: The number of Hajj deaths reached 1,301 people

PNN – Saudi Health Minister Fahd Al-Jalajal announced the increase in the number of Hajj deaths this year and said that 1,301 pilgrims have died so far.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, quoting the Saudi Al-Akhbariya network, according to this report, 83 percent of the deceased people did not have Hajj permits. These people mostly suffer from heat stroke due to long walks under the sun without shelter or rest.

According to this report, there were elderly people and chronic patients among the dead.

At the same time, Al-Jalajal said that the health centers of Saudi Arabia have placed a large number of people suffering from heat stroke during the Hajj under medical care this year. Some of these people are still being treated.

The Saudi Minister of Health noted that the ministry under his command made great efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of heat stroke and emphasized on the observance of preventive measures.

Al-Jalajal added that the ministry has recorded all reports of heatstroke incidents and contacted the families of the victims.

He continued: A number of victims participated in the Hajj ceremony without obtaining permission and did not have any identification documents. According to this report, the Ministry of Health has taken the necessary measures to identify the identity and contact the families of the victims. Also, necessary measures have been taken to bury them in Makkah and death certificates have been issued for the deceased.

Despite the deaths of more than 1,300 pilgrims to the House of God, al-Jalajal claimed that the institutions providing health services performed successfully during this year’s Hajj ceremony and no widespread diseases or epidemics were recorded.

He said: Saudi health centers provided more than 465,000 specialized medical services during this year’s Hajj, of which 141,000 cases were allocated to people who did not have a Hajj permit.

Al-Jalajal added that the health condition of the pilgrims was satisfactory, especially considering the high temperature of the holy areas.

It was on Saturday that the AFP announced that according to the statistics collected by this agency, 980 pilgrims of different nationalities have lost their lives in Saudi Arabia this year.

According to that report, Egypt, Indonesia, India, Jordan, Tunisia, Iraqi Kurdistan were the countries that had the highest number of casualties in this year’s Hajj.

According to the report of the Saudi government, 1,800,000 people participated in this ceremony, 200,000 of them were Saudi pilgrims.
