Soldier returning from Gaza: It’s hard to digest what’s happening in Gaza.

A soldier returning from Gaza: It’s hard to digest what’s happening in Gaza; the army has committed war crimes.

According to Al-Mayadeen, Hebrew-language media outlets admitted that the Israeli army has committed organized war crimes in the Gaza Strip and has destroyed the Strip without any specific goal.

The report states that at the same time as the Israeli army’s war crimes in the Gaza Strip, previously announced goals, such as the return of prisoners, have not been achieved and are no longer relevant.

The Haaretz newspaper also quoted Haim Har-Zahav, an Israeli soldier who returned from the Gaza Strip, as saying that the regime’s army is committing targeted war crimes in Gaza.

The soldier added that what is happening in the Gaza Strip is difficult to digest and that the value of Palestinian lives is less than that of a dog [for the Israeli soldiers].

He admitted that there is no limit to the number of Palestinians being shot at that buildings in the Strip are being destroyed, and that any Palestinian who approaches northern Gaza is being attacked.

Israeli authorities – with rare exceptions – have closed off Gaza to foreign journalists unless under IDF escort, making it difficult to capture the full extent of Palestinian suffering or the experiences of soldiers there. Israeli soldiers who fought in the enclave told CNN they witnessed horrors the outside world can never truly comprehend. Their accounts offer a rare glimpse into the brutality of what critics have called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s “forever war,” and the intangible toll it takes on the soldiers who participate.

For many soldiers, the war in Gaza is a fight for Israel’s survival and must be won by any means. But the battle is also taking a mental toll that, due to stigma, is largely hidden from view. Interviews with Israeli soldiers, a medic, and the family of Mizrahi, the reservist who took his own life, provide a window into the psychological burden that the war is casting on Israeli society.
