PNN – The Politico website wrote that following the decision of the American ABC television network to apologize and pay 16 million dollars to settle the case against Donald Trump, other media are also preparing for a flood of complaints against the president-elect and his political allies.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Politico wrote that many supporters of freedom of speech believe that the agreement between ABC and Trump in the defamation case means that the network surrendered to him, Trump’s victory and the opening of a legal path against the media. They worry that Trump will increase his use of personal civil lawsuits against his media critics after entering the White House.
These lawsuits are independent of the official levers that Trump is able to use against the press as president.

According to Politico, none of the recent American presidents – including Trump’s first term – have made a personal complaint against the media during their presidency. However, in a conversation with reporters, he promised to file more complaints against journalists and experts.
The president-elect threatened to jail journalists and investigates news organizations for treason. Trump also suggested that if he disagreed with the television coverage of some channels, their license to broadcast would be revoked. FBI director-designate Cash Patel has also promised to deal with the media.
On the other hand, Trump has called for changes in the defamation law to make it easier to sue the media. In the Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch have proposed similar changes.
