PNN – The U.S. State Department announced its approval of the potential sale of 48 F-35 fighter jets—along with a wide range of related equipment and services—to Saudi Arabia, with an estimated value of $24.3 billion.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; citing Al Mayadeen, the U.S. State Department stated that it has approved the potential sale of “F-35 Lightning II” fighter jets to Saudi Arabia for approximately $24.3 billion.
According to the ministry’s statement, the contract includes 48 fighter jets and 49 fighter engines, in addition to communication equipment, spare parts, and other support gear and supplies.
This sale of military weaponry to Saudi Arabia comes as Israeli media—citing Hebrew-language Channel 12—report that Tel Aviv is deeply concerned about Saudi Arabia’s weakness in the conflict with the Houthis.
In addition to Israel, France—through its Foreign Ministry spokesperson—has also expressed concern regarding attacks by Yemeni forces on Saudi Arabia.
