PNN – Columbia University announced that it has suspended two student organizations that led demonstrations for a ceasefire in Israel’s war against Hamas.
According to Pakistan News Network, Hill’s website wrote that Gerald Rosberg, the vice president of this higher education institution, announced in a statement that the security of the university was the reason for suspending the activities of the two groups “Students for Justice in Palestine” (SJP) and “Jewish Call for Peace” (JVP) until the end of the semester (December 31).
Hundreds of students of the mentioned university left their classes in a protest hosted by these two organizations and asked Washington to support the establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza.
Both groups have been present at dozens of student dormitories across America and have led protests against the policies of Washington and Tel Aviv.

Some supporters of Palestine have been accused of openly supporting Hamas and using anti-Semitic slogans. Students protesting against Israel have faced criticism from politicians, especially candidates for the Republican Party nomination in the presidential elections. These politicians have threatened to expel foreign students for “offensive speech”.
Others consider the positions of the Jewish Call for Peace, which describes itself as an anti-Zionist Jewish organization, anti-Semitic.
The website of the Financial Times newspaper previously wrote: Following Hamas’s attack on Israel and the support of some American academics and students to the people of Gaza, many sponsors of American universities are withdrawing millions of dollars from their donated funds.
It is said that the reason for this is the punishment of American universities due to their reaction to the attack of the resistance forces on Israel, freedom of speech and public responsibilities of university presidents.
