PNN – Pakistani officials have reported the crash of a cargo plane carrying five people into the Sea of Oman.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, citing Asharq Al-Awsat, a Boeing 737-400 cargo aircraft crashed into the Sea of Oman while en route from Sharjah to Karachi.
The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority stated that at 21:18 local time, the pilot reported a technical malfunction in the navigation system to the Karachi Area Control Center, and air traffic control immediately provided the necessary guidance to the crew.
However, radar data at 21:21 indicated that the aircraft suddenly experienced a rapid loss of altitude and a sharp change in course.
Minutes later, all radio and radar contact with the aircraft was lost over the Sea of Oman, approximately 155 nautical miles (287 kilometers) west of Karachi.
Pakistani officials have not yet released further details regarding the cause of the incident or the fate of the aircraft’s crew, and investigations are ongoing.
Some media outlets have reported the possibility that the aircraft was targeted by the United States.
