Erdogan: The reason we are in Syria is to cleanse the country of terrorists!
According to Al Jazeera, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed in a statement: Syria will be cleansed of terrorists and this is our answer to anyone who asks why we are in Syria!
The Turkish President further claimed: We have always been with the Syrian people. We hosted Syrian refugees based on the right of neighborliness and we were not offended by this.
Erdogan added: The Syrian people took the first step towards peace and freedom after the overthrow of the Baath regime and the flight of Bashar al-Assad. We will do whatever is necessary for the return of the Syrian people to their country, and Turkey welcomes anyone who does not want to return to Syria.
The Turkish President said: that Syrian prisons during the Bashar al-Assad era were instruments of murder. The horrific scenes in Syrian prisons show the extent of the oppression and dictatorship of the Bashar al-Assad regime.
