PNN – A senior Pentagon official announced that the estimated cost of a war with Iran has increased from $25 billion to $29 billion; meanwhile, American media reported that the actual damage to American bases in the region could reach $50 billion, and the Trump administration has restricted access to satellite imagery to conceal the extent of the damage.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network: Jay Hurst, who performs Pentagon auditing duties, said at a hearing of the US House of Representatives Appropriations Committee on Tuesday evening: At the time of the House Armed Services Committee hearing two weeks ago, the amount was $25 billion.
According to CNN, the senior Pentagon official said: But the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the audit team are constantly reviewing that estimate, and so now we think it’s closer to $29 billion. That’s because of the costs of repairing and replacing equipment, as well as the general operating costs of keeping people on the ground.
CNN previously reported that the $25 billion estimate Hearst provided to Congress in April was a “tiny figure” that did not include the estimated cost of repairing extensive damage to U.S. bases in West Asia. A more accurate estimate, including the cost of repairing and replacing damaged assets, is closer to $40 billion to $50 billion, a source said.
Asked if he could provide Congress with a more formal report on the cost of the war against Iran, US Secretary of War Pete Hegsett said the Pentagon would “share whatever we can whenever it’s relevant and needed.”
Last year, while indirect talks with the American side were ongoing, the United States and the Zionist regime launched an aggression against Iran. In response to the aggression against the country’s territory and in self-defense, Iran carried out Operation True Promise 4, targeting American bases in the region and specific targets in the occupied territories.
Prior to the Pentagon report, NBC News reported: US military bases and other facilities i n the Persian Gulf region have suffered extensive damage from Iranian attacks, far worse than publicly announced, and are expected to cost billions of dollars to repair.
NBC News continued the report by revealing the censorship of the US President Donald Trump administration, saying: Iran has caused more damage to US bases than the Pentagon admits. The Trump administration has also asked private satellite companies to block access to images of its bases.
