PNN – The Hamas movement has selected Khalil al-Hayya as the new head of its political bureau, framing the move as a message of continued resistance.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued an official statement on Monday announcing that Khalil al-Hayya has been elected as the new head of the movement’s political bureau following an internal election process conducted through established consultative and organizational mechanisms. Representatives from the various arenas and regions where Hamas operates—including the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, the occupying regime’s prisons, and the diaspora—participated in the election.
In this statement, the movement congratulated Khalil al-Hayya on his selection, noting that he has earned the confidence of the movement’s members and institutions. The movement also prayed that God would assist Khalil al-Hayya in assuming this responsibility and bless his efforts in the service of the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause.
In the remainder of its statement, Hamas paid tribute to the people of the Gaza Strip, declaring that they have withstood a genocidal war with their lives, bodies, homes, and resources; transformed their tragedy and suffering into a beacon for freedom-seekers; and once again taught humanity the meaning of steadfastness and dignity.
The movement also saluted the people of Jerusalem and the defenders of the Al-Aqsa Mosque—who stand firm against the Judaization of the city, the partitioning of the holy site, and settler incursions—and commended the people of the West Bank for confronting the occupying regime’s settlement expansion, arrests, assassinations, and daily attacks.
Furthermore, Hamas praised the steadfastness of Palestinians living in the 1948 territories regarding their national identity and affiliation, as well as the role played by Palestinians in refugee camps and various countries in upholding and defending the Palestinian cause.
The movement also commended Palestinian prisoners held in the occupying regime’s jails—who participated in this consultative process despite severe restrictions—and emphasized that the issue of prisoners and the effort to secure their freedom would remain a top priority.
The statement further noted that holding these elections under current circumstances—amidst acute security and political complexities, as well as ongoing attacks and systematic targeting of Hamas leaders, members, and cadres, along with the Palestinian people both at home and abroad—is far more than a mere ceremonial or administrative exercise.
Hamas emphasized that the successful conclusion of this process demonstrates the movement’s commitment to governance based on established institutions, the principle of consultation (Shura), and its own internal regulations and bylaws, showing that it does not deviate from its organizational mechanisms even under the most arduous conditions.
The movement announced that all Hamas members, leaders, and bodies would—in a spirit of responsibility and unity—stand united behind the elected leadership and continue to fulfill their national and jihadist duties. Hamas also expressed its appreciation for the efforts made by its members, leaders, and organizational structures across various arenas and offices to ensure the success of the elections, despite the exceptional security conditions surrounding the process.
The statement notes that while every stage brings its own specific questions, challenges, and complexities, the phase the Palestinian people are currently traversing is marked by profound issues and challenges; these necessitate a synergy of efforts, unity within national ranks, and a harmonization of perspectives across Gaza, the West Bank, Jerusalem, the 1948 territories, and Palestinian communities abroad.
Hamas emphasized that addressing the demands of this stage requires a deep understanding of the prevailing reality, future-oriented questions, and ongoing regional and global developments; furthermore, this response must be grounded in unity, steadfastness, and awareness, while prioritizing the interests, rights, and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Hamas went on to honor the leaders and martyrs who fell while pursuing the path of jihad and struggle—particularly the martyrs of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle, whose sacrifices have inscribed an enduring chapter in the history of the Palestinian people and their resistance.
The statement specifically mentions the martyred Ismail Haniyeh, Saleh al-Arouri, Yahya Sinwar, and Mohammed Deif—the Commander-in-Chief of the Al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas also paid tribute to other commanders, cadres, fighters, and partners within the resistance factions, as well as all martyrs of the Palestinian nation.
The movement emphasized that, even as it concludes its internal election process, its focus remains fixed on the primary priority of this stage: halting the ongoing attacks against the Palestinian people, upholding their inalienable rights, and alleviating the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip.
Hamas identified the lifting of the blockade on Gaza, the entry of humanitarian and medical aid, the initiation of a fair reconstruction process, and the countering of all schemes for the forced displacement of Palestinians—under any pretext—as its top priorities.
The movement also emphasized its continued support for Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the diaspora, as well as its backing for Palestinian prisoners held in the occupying regime’s jails against daily acts of aggression.
In conclusion, Hamas extended its greetings to the steadfast Palestinian people, the Arab and Islamic nations, the countries hosting the movement and its leadership, and all freedom-loving people worldwide who stand with the Palestinian cause; it affirmed that it would remain loyal to the blood of the martyrs, the sacrifices of the wounded and prisoners, and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people until liberation and the right of return are achieved.
