PNN – Thousands of Haredi Jews took to the streets to protest the arrest of religious school students and Jewish scholars, blocking roads and main thoroughfares to express their dissatisfaction with government policies. The protesters chanted slogans calling for fundamental changes in the governing structure.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the demonstration was held to protest the legal prosecution of religious studies students and the arrest of a number of Haredis (ultra-Orthodox Jews).
Isaac Goldknapp, a member of Knesset who participated in the demonstration, said: These demonstrations took place under the guidance and with the approval of the rabbinical authorities.
He added: We will transform the system and we will never be mere servants and obedient.
The Israeli TV channel 12 recently reported: The religious authority of the Shas party announced its immediate withdrawal from Netanyahu’s cabinet and coalition in response to the failure to approve the law exempting Haredim from compulsory military service.
The Shas party was one of the main religious parties in the coalition government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and its withdrawal from the government could reduce the number of cabinet seats from 61 to 50, severely weakening the government and causing Netanyahu’s cabinet to lose control of the Knesset.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the Israeli army is enacting an amendment that would require military personnel to remain in the army after completing their regular military service due to a shortage of personnel.
The military directive requires regular soldiers to serve in the army for another four months. The Israeli army has announced that we are short by approximately 10,000 troops due to the ongoing war and the failure of efforts to recruit religious “Haredi” Jews.
