According to the Pakistan News Network, Some informed sources in the occupied territories say that the Israeli authorities, despite knowing that ground entry into Gaza cannot destroy Hamas, enter this field only to kill the Israeli prisoners in their hands, and this is their real, but secret, goal.
According to the reports published in the Western media citing Hamas or these media themselves, the Palestinian resistance in recent operations has managed to capture between 200 and 250 Israelis, among whom there are senior Israeli military officials.
The issue of captives among the occupiers is a very important issue, and the Israeli political and military authorities are always under pressure from the residents of the occupied territories.

In 2006, Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit was captured by Hamas.
