PNN – A former Zionist foreign minister has stated that, during a meeting with members of the Likud party, it became clear that they do not want Netanyahu.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the newspaper Maariv reported that Avigdor Liberman, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, remains unwilling to engage in negotiations with any of the factions within the “Change Bloc”—a stance he has maintained since the elections. Liberman has emphasized that he has no intention of holding talks or meetings with them until the final election results are confirmed. In light of this, analysts have pointed to his profound disagreements with his political partners in this bloc—most notably Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Yashar party.

The report further states that the Yisrael Beiteinu party indicated it had met with a large group of Likud voters on the eve of the election who expressed an intention to vote for his party. However, the participants in the meeting made it clear that they were unwilling to accept Eisenkot as Prime Minister.

Lieberman stated that, in his view, the Likud party is not considered an unacceptable partner as long as Netanyahu remains at its helm. He remarked: Without Netanyahu, Likud could be an important partner. But with Netanyahu—no matter what happens—we will not sit [in a coalition] under any circumstances.

In doing so, he raised the possibility of forming a coalition that includes the Likud party, but excludes the current Prime Minister.
