PNN – Citing satellite images, The Washington Post admitted that Iran targeted at least 228 structures or equipment at US bases in the region.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; Iran’s retaliatory strikes have caused far more damage to U.S. military facilities across the Middle East than U.S. officials have publicly acknowledged, according to a Washington Post analysis of satellite imagery released Wednesday.
The assessment documented 228 damaged structures and equipment at 15 U.S. bases, including 217 buildings and 11 military sites. More than half of the damage occurred at the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and three bases in Kuwait.
The extent of the damage, according to the Washington Post, is far greater than the US has publicly disclosed.
A US official told the newspaper that the strikes destroyed Patriot missile defense systems in Bahrain and Kuwait, a satellite dish at the Bahraini Naval Support Activity, and THAAD radar systems in Jordan and the UAE.
An E-3 Sentry command and control aircraft was also destroyed by Iran at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia after repeatedly deploying to an unprotected spot, according to the Washington Post. A refueling tanker was also destroyed.
