PNN – A United Nations fact-finding committee has classified US actions in Minab and Lamerd as war crimes in a recent report.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; the UN fact-finding committee on Iran announced on Thursday, September 17, that there are reasonable grounds to believe the United States was responsible for two military attacks—targeting a school and a sports complex in Iran—last February, and that these actions constitute war crimes.
The findings of the new report by the “Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran”—set to be presented to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva—examine the actions of the United States during the military conflict with Iran.
Attack on a School in Minab
UN experts announced they had found sufficient evidence to believe that US forces were responsible for the attack on the “Shajareh Tayyebeh” elementary school in the city of Minab—an attack that, according to Iranian officials, resulted in the deaths of over 160 people, including approximately 120 students.
The panel concluded that the action was an indiscriminate attack that caused civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, constituting a war crime under international law.
This comes despite the US having previously denied carrying out such an act of aggression and claiming that it was conducting its own investigation into the matter.
Attack on Lamerd
These experts reached a similar conclusion regarding an attack on a sports complex in Lamerd. The report states that the attack damaged nearby residential buildings and a school, resulting in the death and injury of 22 civilians.
The report concluded that the attack was indiscriminate and, therefore, constitutes a war crime.
