Behind the scenes of the possible contract for the sale of American weapons to Saudi Arabia

Pak Sahafat – According to analysts, the US government has several goals in agreeing to sell a new package of military weapons to Saudi Arabia worth 500 million dollars, although this possible deal is far from the sale of advanced weapons in the eyes of the Saudi Crown Prince.

According to Pak Sahafat News Agency International Group, media sources reported that US President Joe Biden agreed to sign a large contract worth 500 million dollars for the export of military spare parts to the Saudi Arabian army.

According to this report, the contract, which the US State Department (September 21), proposed to Congress, includes parts for Abrams and M-60 tanks, Bradley fighting vehicles and Humvee armored vehicles. It will also include gun spare parts, anti-tank missile launchers, radars and night vision devices.

However, informed sources say that this contract will not be any new weapon system and is not to the extent of selling advanced weapons that Riyadh is looking for as a precondition for normalizing relations with the Zionist regime.

However, Eli Cohen, the foreign minister of the occupying Quds regime (Friday, September 22), claimed in an interview to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia by the beginning of next year (2024) and said: “It is undeniable that there are still differences between us and the Saudis, but we can gradually move forward by overcoming them; Therefore, there is confidence that after resolving these disputes, we will reach an agreement by the beginning of 2024.”

The Russian news agency “Sputnik” published a report in this regard and examined Washington’s goals for signing a defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and quoted two military experts and wrote that: The American government seeks to improve the “gap” created between Washington and Riyadh since the time of Joe Biden and his assumption of the presidency is from him.

The two experts believe that Washington has finally given up and is trying to fix what the Biden administration created in relations. Especially after the historic agreement between Riyadh and Tehran, this was made with the support of China, and proved to the American side that it is far away from the region.

Brigadier Abdullah Al-Asiri, a military expert of Saudi Arabia, describes the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America as historical and strategic, despite the tensions that existed at the beginning of the Biden era, and says: After more than two years of Biden’s presidency in the United States, he and his political team realized the seriousness of these tensions and it was natural that the common interests of the two countries would be under pressure, the risk of a political vacuum that countries like China or Russia would benefit from. For this reason, Biden surrendered and decided to deal wisely with Riyadh and respect the historical legacy in relations and support the process of common interests.

In this regard, Brigadier General “Faisal Al-Anzi” says: “The US national security strategy is based on Washington’s efforts to calm the atmosphere in the region, and the possible agreement with Saudi Arabia plays a role in realizing this effort in the Middle East and the region.”

In an interview with Sputnik, he emphasized that this step conveys the message to other countries that Washington is still thinking about the region, considering that it considers China as its first competitor; it attaches great importance to the pivots made towards the east.

Al-Anzi emphasized that Riyadh uses stability and security in the region and will follow its vision in big economic projects. Therefore, the acquisition of advanced American weapons strengthens the approach of the Saudi kingdom in the field of weapons and localization of military industries.

He admitted that the Biden administration, after realizing the weight and influence of Saudi Arabia, is trying to fill the created gap.

Meanwhile, in 2017, Saudi Arabia and the United States of America signed several agreements and memoranda of economic cooperation worth 280 billion dollars.

According to this report, in the Saudi section, the Saudi Crown Prince demands the right to have a peaceful nuclear program in Saudi Arabia, increase defense relations with the United States, develop trade with the United States, and stop the American criticism of Jamal Khashoggi, a journalist who opposes Bin Salman.
