Former Foreign Minister of Pakistan: Unilateral sanctions against nations are a crime

PNN – The Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and the current head of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of this country said in response to the unilateral US sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran: The Western Front seeks to maintain the hegemony of the dollar, while unilateral sanctions against nations are nothing but crimes.

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Ms. Hana Rabbani added in a television interview in Islamabad: Iran’s embargoers force other countries to comply with unilateral sanctions with political and economic pressure.

She stated: Sanctions against Iran have not been imposed by the United Nations or other multilateral institutions, but unilaterally, and their nature is economic, and it causes the problems of nations to deepen, especially the phenomenon of poverty.

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of Pakistan said: I believe that my country is not obliged to follow unilateral sanctions, but the great powers use political and economic means to prove their point.

She emphasized: The effect of unilateral economic sanctions directly affects the nations and the poor, and therefore, in my opinion, this action is a crime.

Between 2011 and 2013, Rabbani, the current member of the Parliament of Pakistan from the People’s Party, was the first female foreign minister at the helm of Islamabad’s diplomatic system. She then served as Pakistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2022 to 2023.

The former foreign minister of Pakistan said about developments in the Middle East, including the Gaza war and the adventures of the United States in East and South Asia: America and Europe no longer have the credibility to talk about humanitarian principles or human rights issues, and we see it in their dual approach to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

She added: “There is no hope for a ceasefire in Gaza until the diplomatic pressure on [the] Israeli [regime] is intensified.”

Rabbani also said about the tense relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan and the policy of the two American political factions regarding the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan: The Doha agreement was controversial from the very beginning, and in my opinion, both sides of the United States, both Donald Trump and Jude Biden, are guilty of the turmoil in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of foreign forces.
