PNN – The Israeli prime minister tried to manage his cabinet members’ anger over the ceasefire in Lebanon by offering an excuse.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network, Hebrew-language media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his security cabinet ministers that he accepted the ceasefire with Lebanon at the request of US President Donald Trump and resisted their demand for a formal vote on the issue.
According to the Yedioth Ahronoth news site, Netanyahu told ministers during a cabinet meeting: When Israel’s greatest friend, President Trump, acts in close coordination with us, Israel cooperates with him.
According to the report, Netanyahu also told ministers that during the 10-day ceasefire that begins tonight, IDF forces will remain stationed in the “strategic points” they currently hold.
The comments come as Israeli ministers have expressed anger and frustration at having heard about the ceasefire through media reports and not through an official cabinet decision, according to sources.
Reports indicate that Netanyahu has promised ministers that the ceasefire issue will be discussed and reviewed at the next security cabinet meeting.
