The dangerous plan to divide Syria into 4 hostile regimes.
Ali Abu Raad, an expert on Lebanese military issues, emphasized in an interview with Mehr reporter Warda Saad that Syria will face numerous obstacles in the coming phase, including the conflicting interests of domestic and international currents, and that a more dangerous approach is to create sectarian divisions that will gradually manifest themselves despite the media cover-up by Arab and international media.
In this interview, Mehr News Agency attempted to examine several scenarios regarding Syria’s ambiguous transitional phase, including the risk of the country’s disintegration on the one hand, and the ambitions of Turkey, the United States, and the Zionist regime in Syria’s natural resources, as well as the silence of Arab regimes regarding Tel Aviv’s repeated aggressions against Syria and the occupation of some of the country’s lands. Recently, we witnessed the visit of Barbara Leaf, the US Secretary of State’s advisor, to Syria and her meeting with Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Why did this American official evaluate the meeting positively? On the other hand, how will Al-Jolani implement her commitment not to harm American interests, which Barbara Leaf announced?
A notable point in recent days was the visit of Barbara Leaf, the US Secretary of State’s advisor, to Syria and her meeting with Ahmed Al-Sharaa. One of the sidelines of this meeting was the presence of the US President’s Special Representative for American Prisoners of War, which shows that this visit also has hidden angles, which include the search for American citizens who have disappeared in Syria for about 12 years. We all know that America attaches great importance to its citizens, especially since most of the victims were journalists or members of the US security services. Another notable point was Barbara Leaf’s statement after the end of this meeting when she said that she had met with representatives of the Syrian interim government. This means that the US has recognized this interim government, in a situation where the US government had previously placed Ahmed Al-Sharaa on its list of terrorist elements. She also mentioned in these statements the positive messages in Ahmed Al-Sharaa’s words. He has announced that Syria does not want to go to war with Israel. He has also implicitly supported the new Syrian government’s approach to normalizing relations with the Zionist enemy. The ironic point in Leaf’s words is that he said that it must be guaranteed that terrorist groups cannot pose threats to American interests in Syria and that Ahmed al-Sharaa must be committed to this point. He also called for clarification of the fate of the missing Americans in Syria and said that this trip was made to present the conditions and requests of the United States to al-Jolani in return for his positive intentions towards the American government, and the fate of the two citizens of this country who went missing in Syria must be clarified, and the views and conditions of the United States must be explained to al-Jolani, which, of course, is one of these conditions for normalizing relations with Israel. He also spoke of providing some incentives, including considering lifting sanctions against Syria in this regard, and said that the United States will soon cancel the implementation of the reward for providing information regarding al-Jolani’s arrest. He called al-Jolani a pragmatic person and also said that he asked al-Jolani to eliminate armed groups that do not accept al-Jolani’s rule over Syria, especially the Islamist armed groups that have come to power in Aleppo and Hama and do not want to accept the dominance of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham over Syria.
