PNN – A Hebrew media outlet reported that despite pressure from Washington, Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz and has spoken of the full return of freedom of navigation by the end of the war; an issue that, according to the outlet, has heightened US concerns about rising energy prices ahead of the midterm elections.
According to the report of Pakistan News Network; The Hebrew media wrote: Iran continues to hold the Strait of Hormuz while Trump grows angrier.
This is the description that the Hebrew-language analytical news site Walla published on Sunday evening, announcing that US President Donald Trump held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in light of the increasing tension with Iran. Moments later, he went to his social network Truth and threatened Tehran from there, saying: Time is running out, they must move quickly, otherwise, nothing will be left of them.
Walla, citing a Bloomberg report, reported that despite Trump’s talks in China that made no progress in restoring shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has stated that this process will normalize when the US-Israeli war ends, while Washington is concerned that continuing this process will lead to an increase in energy prices, especially on the eve of the US midterm elections.
According to the report, Tehran has stated that freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz will not be restored until the war is definitively ended, but at the same time it has indicated that Iran intends to maintain control of the waterway even after the war.
Walla also quoted Iranian President Masoud Pezishkiyan as saying that Iran would activate “effective and professional” monitoring and control mechanisms in the Strait within the framework of international law.
Trump is also reportedly considering lifting sanctions on Chinese oil companies that buy Iranian oil after speaking with Xi Jinping during his visit to China. Meanwhile, Washington continues to apply economic pressure on Tehran in an effort to reach a deal.
The report also notes that the White House faces another complex dilemma.
The ideal scenario is to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, lower energy prices, and prevent tensions from escalating into another full-scale war—all of which must be accomplished just months before the U.S. midterm elections (and has become a dream come true for America).
