PNN – Iran could force tech companies like Google and Meta to comply with its laws by threatening undersea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz

According to the report of Pakistan News Network, CNN admitted: Iran could force technology companies like Google and Meta to comply with its laws by threatening undersea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the report, Iran, inspired by its successful blockade of the Strait of Hormuz during the war, is now targeting the hidden arteries of the global economy, namely undersea internet cables, to obtain rights of passage from the world’s technology giants.

The media added: Tehran intends to force major technology companies such as Google, Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon to adhere to its laws and collect licensing fees from submarine cable companies.

CNN stated: Although international operators have tried to concentrate cables in the Omani part of the Strait of Hormuz due to security risks, according to the research institute “Telegeography”, two key cables pass directly through Iranian territorial waters.

According to the report, experts warn that any deliberate damage to this infrastructure could create a “digital chain disaster” that would affect the Arab countries of the Persian Gulf the most.
